Live Twitter Feed On Product Recalls – What Is Being Said About Your Products?
Dec/11
For a live feed from twitter users who are tweeting about product recall go to RQA's web site. This unique web page shows tweets appearing in real time. They may be about your products or company! Also see how quickly word gets about when a recall is announced.
The speed news travel across the internet is incredible but it is even quicker and more direct when it is transferred via social media. For example one specific product recall that was announced as we were setting this page up this month was being discussed on Twitter within 1 hour and within 12 hours there were hundreds of tweets about it. One worrying aspect of this is that the original message about a recall may become distorted or exaggerated as it is tweeted and re-tweeted.
One tweet was telling their "followers" not to consume a particular product and there were replies via Facebook saying "thanks, I'll tell my friends".
Imagine a consumer wants to complain about your product. The most common routes would be for the consumer to call your consumer careline or take it back to the retailer. Now social media enables consumer to bypass these routes if they want to spread the word about product complaints. Consumers can input reviews or comments with on-line stores but as a manufacturer you do not have any control on this. What do you do if a comment or review is inaccurate and reflects badly on your product or company? Are you even aware that the comment has been made?
Also, if you announce a product recall, are you aware how this will be received by your consumers? Accessing social media can be very enlightening and you must consider this in your communication strategy.
RQA wants our clients to be aware of the rapidly changing landscape in communication during product recalls. Go to our live feed on product recall and set this as your home page so you can regularly see the product recall tweets in real time.
