Service: Product Recall - Plan

Client:

Medium sized food processor

Objectives/background:

Assist the client in developing an effective product recall plan and ensuring the product recall team were trained in execution of the plan.

Methodology:

In an initial meeting with the product recall team of our client, the RQA consultant provided an outline of the key elements of an effective product recall plan.  The make up of the team was agreed and roles and responsibilities were discussed.  The consultant also covered product recall related regulations, traceability, risk assessment, escalation, crisis communication, and the logistics of actually executing a product recall.  After the initial meeting, the RQA consultant worked remotely developing the draft of the product recall plan always remaining in contact with key personnel within the company.  Once a draft was developed it was sent to the site for review and local checks.  After further two way discussions, a final version was produced.

Outcome:

The company now had an effective product recall plan that followed industry best practice and would be of great help during an actual product recall.  The next step was to train the team.  See next case study.
